The Primavera interface has a bi-directional integration allowing you to transfer data between schedule and estimate in either direction with minimal setup. You can either take the schedule as starting point, eg. activities are transferred to  your estimate which can then be estimated or you can take the estimate as a starting point and use the estimated hours to setup a schedule. These newly activities can be automatically linked. Moreover, changes made to either side of the equation can be automatically synchronized. This not only saves an enormous amount of time but is also greatly reduces the risk of errors.

Although the integration works out of the box, you also have the possibility to completely configure how data is exchanged. For instance, you can specify which activity codes are turned into breakdown structures, which part of your estimate should be transferred, whether it is necessary to create a baseline before the export starts. This configuration will be a one time effort having the advantage of full automation while staying in control.
