On January 14th, Cost Engineering organized a workshop hosted by Rich Plumery. During this interesting day, various topics were discussed on improving the performance of projects. From cost estimating and cost control to risk management. With participants from various backgrounds and industries, this resulted in a lively interaction and exchange of ideas.
With Rich’s experience in various industries and projects and his current work at a large EPC contractor AECOM, Rich had plenty of interesting examples from real-life situations. The primary goal of the workshop was to help people better manage project risks by providing new tools and alternative solutions for improving project outcomes.
By discussing some of the known and lesser known pitfalls of project success, important lessons were learned that will help today’s cost engineers and project managers.
With a practical and fun case, all aspects of a real project were addressed. By working in teams, also the group dynamics and communication played an important role in bringing the case to a successful ending.
We would like to thank Rich Plumery for this fascinating workshop and all the participants for their enthusiasm!
